Kaolin Pink Clay and Oatmeal Melt and Pour Soap Tutorial
Kaolin clay is fabulous for the skin! The list of benefits is endless – purifies pores, detoxes the skin, cleanses and soothes by latching onto and removing impurities, excess oils, and bacteria. This soap is the perfect combination of smoothing oatmeal and clarifying kaolin clay. Perfect for sensitive, oil prone skin or those who enjoy the simple pleasures of relaxing, luxurious soap.
What you’ll need:
3 lbs of PureLux oatmeal melt and pour soap base
1 ½ teaspoon sweet almond oil
1 ½ teaspoon vitamin E oil
1 ½ teaspoon jojoba oil (optional)
2-3 teaspoons of rose kaolin clay
1 ½ tablespoons of lavender essential oil
1 ½ tablespoons of tea tree essential oil (optional)
Microwave safe container
Mixing utensil
Kitchen Scale
Soap Cutter
Silicone Soap Mold
99% isopropyl alchol in spray bottle
Thermometer is helpful
Step 1:
Take your rose kaolin clay and combine it with 1-2 tablespoons of isopropyl alcohol, mix until it’s a slight paste – this helps wet the clay so it’s not so clumpy when added to the soap. Set aside.
Step 2:
Then take 2 lb of your oatmeal soap base and cut it into evenly sized cubes and place into a microwave safe bowl. Cut the last pound of soap into evenly sized cubes and set off to the side. Microwave the 2 lb of oatmeal soap base in 10-15 second intervals, stirring in between until melted into a smooth liquid. Do not burn.
Step 3:
Add 1 tsp of sweet almond oil, 1 tsp vitamin E oil, and 1 tsp jojoba oil. You can use whatever combination of oils you’d like and don’t feel like you have to use three oils. Add your rose clay mixture, ½ tbsp tea tree oil and ½ tbsp lavender oil. You may choose not to scent your soap with essential oils and that’s totally fine too! Stir and mix well.
Step 4:
Pour your soap mixture into your silicone soap mold. Then spray the tops of the liquid soap with 99% isopropyl alcohol to eliminate any bubbles.
Step 5:
Allow this poured soap to set up for about 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
Step 6:
Start preparing your second layer of soap by melting the last 1 pound of oatmeal melt and pour soap base in the microwave following the same procedure as above.
Step 7:
Once the last pound of soap is completely melted add your remaining ½ tsp sweet almond oil, ½ tsp vitamin e oil, and ½ tsp jojoba oil along with the remainder of your lavender and tea tree oil. Stir well.
Step 8:
Spray the pink layer of soap that you poured first with your 99% isopropyl alcohol to allow the white layer of soap to adhere to the pink layer. Then pour the white oatmeal layer of soap on top of the pink layer. You can optionally sprinkle some whole rolled oats on top.
Step 9:
Allow soap to set for several hours or overnight then remove from molds and enjoy! Wrap securely in plastic wrap or cello wrap to prevent sweating.
